Introduction

It is not the intent of this article to teach basic Domino or IBM i administration. It is assumed that  the Domino administrator is not only responsible for installing the Domino code but also performs and maintains the daily Domino administration tasks.

NOTE: If you have insufficient administration rights, certain IBM i commands may not execute correctly in your environment.  The author is not responsible for undesirable results from using the scripts and commands contained in this document.

Also, all screen shots and commands have been executed on IBM i 7.1 and Lotus Domino 8.5.3

==Preparing your environment=

=Before installing the Domino code on IBM i , you must do the following:

1.    Verify that IBM i has the system requirements both software and hardware. Refer to this document for system requirements.

           http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27022468#IBM_i_tab

2.    Check IP address availability on the IBM i machine.

Go to CFGTCP then option 10 to view the host table entries. This contains the available IP address on this IBM i machine. (see Figure 1.)

           (Figure 1.)

            CFGTCP option 10

NOTE: Be sure to have the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) and the IP address from your network team handy before installing the Domino code.

3.     Download the SAVF or the installers. Transfer the installers on the IBM i machine.

There are three files that important. QNOTES , QNOTESAP and QNOTESRL savf files.

There are a lot of ways to transfer the installers to the IBM i machine. One of which is using command prompt to FTP files.

            a. )  Open a command prompt.

            b. )  FTP to the IBM i machine using the hostname or the IP address. See (Figure 2.)

                    (Figure 2.)

                   Connecting to IBM i machine

          c. ) Input your credentials. See (Figure 3.)

                  (Figure 3.)

                  Credentials

          d. )  Issue the bin and hash commands. See (Figure 4.)

                  (Figure 4.)

                  BIN and HASH

           e. ) Issue the put command. Assuming you have the installers saved in the C:\Users\IBM_ADMIN folder. See (Figure 5.)

                  put QNOTES.SAVF QGPL/QNOTES.SAVF (replace

                   ......

you will see hash character printed and indication that the file transfer is progressing.

                   ......

                   (Figure 5.)

                   QNOTES

Do the same thing both for QNOTESAP and QNOTESRL savf files. These files will be under QGPL Library.

Restoring the Domino code

To restore the Domino 8.5.3 code , follow these steps:

1. Issue the RSTLICPGM command and press F4 to prompt. See (Figure 6.)

 RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5733L85)  DEV(*SAVF)   SAVF(QGPL/QNOTES)

Note: 5733L85 is the Product code for all Domino 8.5 release.

(Figure 6.)                    RSTLICPGM command

2. Do the same thing for the other two savf files but using this commands.

RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5733L85) DEV(*SAVF) OPTION(1) SAVF(MYLIB/QNOTESAP)
RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5733L85) DEV(*SAVF) OPTION(1X) SAVF(MYLIB/QNOTESRL) ===X FOR THE VERSION LIKE 851 GOES

Configuring Lotus Domino using the green screen

To do this, use these these steps:

1. Issue the CFGDOMSVR command then press F4 to prompt. See (Figure 7.)

(Figure 7.)CFGDOMSVR

Note: Please don't forget to supply the IP address and hostname. See (Figure 8.)

IP address and hostname

After checking all fields just hit enter and it will start configuring your Domino server.

2. When it finishes. You can then now see your server on the WRKDOMSVR screen. You can start the server using option 1.
