You can add horizontal rules to a document to separate different parts of an email, calendar entry or other Notes document. You can add a horizontal rule only in a rich-text field.
You can set properties for horizontal rules. For example, here is a horizontal rule, using gradient colors and 3D shading:
To add a horizontal rule
- While creating or editing a document, put you cursor where you want the line and then click Create > Horizontal Rule.
- Optional: Click the horizontal rule, and then click Horizontal Rule > Horizontal Rule Properties.
- Click the Info tab and make any of these changes:
Task | Procedure |
Change the height of the line | In the Size section, adjust the height in inches in the Height field. |
Change the width of the line | In the Size section, for Width select one of the following, and then adjust the amount:
- Fixed width - sets the horizontal rule to the specified number of inches, regardless of the width of the document.
- Percent - specifies the percentage of the horizontal rule's width to use.
|
Have a flat border around the horizontal rule | In the Fill section, select No 3D shading. |
Add color to a horizontal rule | In the Fill section, click a pattern button next to the Color field (solid or top to bottom gradient). |
Make a horizontal rule transparent | Click the arrow in the Color field, and then click the transparency button. |
Undo making a horizontal rule transparent | Click the arrow in the Color field, and then click the undo transparency button. |
Notes about adding color
- Gradient color is color that blends and fades into another color within a table cell or horizontal rule. You can customize colors by using the color wheel button in the top right corner of the Color box.
- To set the color of your horizontal rule to your system's color scheme, click the arrow in the Color field, then click the System button.
