This video shows you how to perform an advanced search to find information that is relevant to you.

2.1 | You can perform an advanced search from anywhere in IBM Connections using the search control in the navigation bar. | The Home page displays.
Select All Connections > Advanced. |
2.2 | Choose the applications that you want to search, and whether to search all content or just the content that is related to you. | The following list of applications displays:
- Activities
- Blogs
- Bookmarks
- Communities
- Files
- Forums
- Profiles
- Wikis
- Status Updates
The following options also display:
- Select All
- Unselect All
- Search ALL content
- Search MY content

2.3 | Define the scope of your search by filling out one or more of the fields provided. | The following fields display:
- Keywords
- Tags
- Person
- Title or File Name

2.4 | You can find content that contains a specific keyword or is associated with a specific tag. | Enter marketing in the Keywords field.

2.5 | You can search for content authored by a specific person, or search for a specific title or file name. | Mouse over the following fields:
- Person
- Title or File Name

2.6 | Click Search when you are ready to submit your search query. | Click Search. |

3.1 | Your search results are displayed in order of relevance. | The Search Results page displays. |
3.2 | You can browse through the list or use the filters provided to help you find the information that you need. | Scroll down the list of results.
Expand the Filter by drop-down menu to display the following options:
- All Results
- Public Content
- My Content

3.3 | Your search term is highlighted to make it easy for you to see at a glance whether it is being used in a relevant context. | The search term is highlighted with a blue background in each of the search results. |
3.4 | The latest status update displays before the list of search results when it is relevant to your search query. | The Latest Status Update area displays before the list of search results. |
3.5 | An icon next to each result identifies which IBM Connections application is associated with that result. | An application icon displays next to each search result. |
3.6 | Use the application filters in the navigation sidebar to display the results for a specific application. | The following application options display in the navigation sidebar:
- All Results
- Activities
- Blogs
- Bookmarks
- Communities
- Files
- Forums
- Profiles
- Wikis
- Status Updates

3.7 | Additional filter options are available on each page to help you narrow down the scope of your results even more. | Select Communities from the navigation sidebar.
Select My Communities from the Filter by list.
Select Content from Communities from the Show list. |
3.8 | You can sort your search results by different criteria, such as date or relevance. | When Communities is selected, the Sort by options include:

3.9 | These criteria change depending on the application you select. | Select Blogs from the navigation sidebar.
The Sort by options include:
- Relevance
- Date
- Comments
- Likes

3.10 | Use the filters under the navigation sidebar to refine your search results. | The following filters display:

3.11 | You can further narrow your search results to content tagged with a specific keyword or tag. | Expand the Tags area. |
3.12 | Add related tags if you want to refine your search even more. | Select customer from the Related Tags list. |
3.13 | If you find that the addition of too many tags is restricting the scope of your results, you can remove tags as needed. | Click Remove this filter next to customer. |
3.14 | Use the People filter to display the search results associated with a specific person. | Move the slider in the People filter to show more people associated with the search results.

3.15 | The Dates filter displays the results for a specific year and month. | Expand the Dates filter.

3.16 | An additional filter is available when you view the status updates returned by your search.
Use the Trending widget to view the latest hot topics in your organization. You can select a topic trend to display the search results that are associated with that trend. | Select Status Updates.

3.17 | When you see a search result that looks like it might be relevant to you, click the link to take a closer look. | Click a search result.
