Import the security certificate for IBM® Connections to avoid warnings from your browser.
Tags: portlets, certificates

Before you begin

In order to view bookmark and activity icons, you must import a security certificate. If you do not, your browser will put up security alerts when it displays IBM Connections icons.

Certificates are used for SSL communication. If SSL certificates from the Connections server or Connections HTTP server are signed by an authority already trusted by the browser, this step may not be necessary. If the SSL certificates on your Connections server or HTTP server are self-signed or signed by an authority unknown to your browser, then you will need to import the certificates into your browser to avoid security alerts and missing icons.

Adding explicit trust for a certificate can be useful during development and testing, if you have not yet configured a certificate from an issuer your browsers already trusts or to work around temporary issues with certificate expiration or revocation. This should not normally be a part of a regular process for accessing the server.

If certificates are not trusted by the browser, your browser may display security alerts and icons may not display in the browser.
