Setting More Secure Internet Passwords in Domino Directory Profile Has No Effect

Technote Number: 1085488

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Domino release 5.0.6.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.6 QMR fix list:

Install & Setup - Registration - User Registration
SPR# KSPR4MQN88 - User registration now checks the Directory Profile to see if
the "more secure internet password format" should be used when storing the
Internet Password in the person document.

To work around this issue, do one of the following:

1. After registering users or creating Person documents, run the action to
upgrade the password format. A view can be used to select the documents to be
upgraded.
2. Modify the Person form in the Domino Directory template/database and add the
field $SecurePassword, as a text field with a default value of null, 0 or 1.Supporting Information:

NOTE: Both methods above require ongoing interaction from the system
administrator (additional step during registration or ensuring that the
template modification is reapplied after every server version upgrade). If
these actions are not taken, the default password format will be used.
