Red Box Crash in Notes R5 if Workstation Focus Shifts During Typeahead Resolution

Technote Number: 1098643

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering and has been
addressed in Notes 5.0.7 and Notes 6.0.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0.7 QMR fix list (available
at http://www.notes.net):

Mail Client - Address - Type Ahead

SPR# FBEE4LRSXN - Fixed a crash caused by switching from Notes to another
application while a type ahead search is in progress.

Currently, the only workaround is to use the Address Book rather than typeahead
if you have an application that might shift focus while typeahead is
resolving. This will hang the system and may require a hard boot.

On Win95 machines, this crash does not seem to reproduce a RIP file.

Supporting Information:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have a choice of applications open in the background ready to toggle to
(WordPad, Netscape, or Explorer)
2. Create a new memo and type in a few letters that will take time to resolve.
3. Quickly, before the name resolves, use ALT + Tab to switch the focus to
another application. [This may take a few times (up to ten times) to get, but
it will eventually work.
4. The red box crash occurs with the above errors.
