Domino for zOS HTTP hangs during shutdown after upgrade to Java 1.4.2

Technote Number: 1213457

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# MIAS6DBGXJ and fixed in
Domino 6.5.5. Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading
Notes/Domino.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.5 fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
SPR# MIAS6DBGXJ - Fixed an HTTP hang after timing out with Java 1.4.2 on the
OS390 platform.

The problem occurs because Java 1.4.2 moved some of the class files from one
JAR file to another. The new JAR files that are part of Java 1.4.2 are not
loaded correctly by Domino when it loads any Java agent. Calling a class that
was moved will hang with a similar set of messages.
This does not occur with Java 1.4.1, so a possible work around is to use Java
1.4.1.
If it is necessary that you use Java 1.4.2, there is no known workaround. If
you need to call a moved class, increasing the time-out value may help if the
hang occurs after a Java agent times out. The time-out value for Java agents
is set in the Server document -> Internet Protocols -> Domino Web Engine tab,
in the Web Agents field.
