Crash Causes Local Database Properties To Change Launch Setting to 'Restore as Last Viewed by User'

Technote Number: 1102423

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering, and was
addressed in Notes 5.0.7 Client and Notes 6 Client.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0.7 QMR fix list (available
at http://www.notes.net):

Design - Database Properties
SPR # FBEE4DZLA2 - Fixed databases losing their Database launch properties if
the client had previously crashed while that database was open.

Workaround:
1. Open the Notes R4-style Workspace (click the Databases folder on the
bookmark bar and select Workspace).
2. On the Workspace, delete the icon for the database with the Frameset launch
problem (the one that contains the 'Restore as Last Viewed' launch property
instead of what it should say: 'Open Designated Frameset').
3. Close the Workspace.
4. Open the database using the existing Bookmark; the database now opens with
the correct launch property.

A Few Caveats:
If the user does happen to have a local copy of the database and also accesses
the database from the server, they have to use the following, much more tedious
workaround procedure:

1. Open Notes R4-style Workspace (click the Databases folder on the bookmark
bar and select Workspace).
2. Delete the icons for both database replicas. Annoyingly this changes the
bookmark Replica List as well (it now shows only the local replica). If you
try to add the server replica to the bookmark's Replica list at this point, it
fails to find the replica.
3. So instead, open the local replica using the bookmark.
4. Close the database.
5. Now, add the server replica to the bookmark's replica list. Both the server
and local replicas now open with the correct Launch setting.Supporting Information:
