DECS: Unable to Preview in Frame when Running Two Activities to a DB2 Table

Technote Number: 1103135

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Notes/Domino 5.0.3.

Excerpt from the Partial Fix List (as of 7/25/00) for Lotus Notes and Domino
Release 5.0.3 QMR:

SPR# FBEE4AXPNS - Fix problem that could be observed when setting up a
connection and two activities. Before this fix, opening either activity in a
view succeeded, but when trying to preview an activity in a frame or bring up
the document properties infobox, the user received the error message: "Server
Error: DECS Server cannot locate the corresponding record in the External
System". [5.0.3]

There are two possible workarounds to be able to preview in frame:

1. Run only one Activity at a time to the DB2 database.

2. Under the General Options section of the Activity, there is a section "When
Intercepting the Opening of a Document". In this section there is a field for
"Missing External Records". If this is set to "Generate Error", the issue
occurs. If, however, you set this field value to "Ignore", you will be able to
run both Activities without error.

Supporting Information:

Sample Scenario:

The client is Notes 5.01 or 5.0a on NT
The Server is 5.01 or 5.0a on OS/400
The database being accessed is DB2 on the same server as Domino
Text Order: Binary
Direction: Ascending
Data Integrity : Allow Precision Loss
Trim Trailing: Trim Spaces on all fields
Data Storage: Leave All RealTime Fields in Document
Caching: Disabled
Missing External Errors: Generate Error
Conflict Detection: Check External Data for Changes
Field Level Updates: Only Update Changed Fields
Updates: Block
Journaling: Off
Selection Type: Table

On the second document, the only difference is "Do not trim spaces on any
fields"
