Internet mail refers to users who are not using Lotus Notes protocol for their mail. An internet protocol is less secure than Notes, so if someone mails you an image from internet mail, they may contain viruses.

By default, when you open an Internet message that contains remote images, Notes asks whether or not to display the remote images. If you always want to display the images, you can set a preference by following the instructions below.

In standard Notes

  1. Click File > Preferences.
    Macintosh OS X users: Click Lotus Notes > Preferences.
  2. Click the plus sign beside Mail, and then click Internet.
  3. Clear the To ensure privacy, do not show remote images without my permission check box to automatically display remote images in Internet mail you receive.

In basic Notes

  1. Click File > Preference > User Preferences.
    Macintosh OS X users: Click Lotus Notes > Preferences > User Preferences.
  2. Click Mail > Internet.
  3. Clear the To ensure privacy, do not show remote images without my permission check box to automatically display remote images in Internet mail you receive.
