Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Domino 5.0.7.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0.7 QMR Fix List (available
at http://www.notes.net):
SPR# JFOR4HPJJD - Enabled Relay functionality with the notes.ini parameter
RouterPercentRelayEnabled=1. Please note, a rewrite of the RFC822 message
addresses is NOT performed. Also, relays must be enabled in the Server
Configuration document for this feature to work. This regression was
introduced in 5.0.
As the excerpt states, successful usage of the RouterPercentRelayEnabled=1
parameter requires that relays be allowed in the Domino 5.0.7 or later SMTP
server's Configuration document. If the parameter is not used and/or relay
capability is not allowed in the Configuration document, an inbound SMTP
message containing a % sign as an Internet domain suffix separator will result
in a DFR with the "User not listed in name and address book" error.
Supporting Information:
If a Domino 5.0.7 or later SMTP server that is using (1) the
RouterPercentRelayEnabled=1 parameter in its NOTES.INI, and (2) "DOMAINABC.COM"
as an Internet domain suffix receives a message addressed to
USER%DOMAINXYZ.COM@DOMAINABC.COM, the following occurs:
The message to USER%DOMAINXYZ.COM@DOMAINABC.COM is accepted via the SMTP
protocol.
The Internet domain suffix of DOMAINABC.COM and its preceding @ symbol ("@
DOMAINABC.COM") are stripped from the address; and the % sign is replaced with
an @ symbol.
The message is deposited into MAIL.BOX, with an address of USER@DOMAINXYZ.COM.
The message is treated as a Relay message destined for DOMAINXYZ.COM.
The following graphic of a Domino 5.x SMTP server's Relay configuration allows
three external Internet hosts/domains relay privileges through the SMTP
server. Note that IP addresses, if used, require enclosure within square
brackets, and that the semicolon (;) is used as the delineator.
In contrast with Domino 5.0.6x and earlier, if a Domino 4.6x SMTP MTA with
DOMAINABC.COM as an Internet domain suffix receives an inbound SMTP message
with a recipient address of USER%DOMAINXYZ.COM@DOMAINABC.COM, the following
occurs:
The message to USER%DOMAINXYZ.COM@DOMAINABC.COM is accepted via the SMTP
protocol.
The message is deposited into the SMTP MTA's Inbound Workqueue (SMTPIBWQ.NSF).
The Internet domain suffix of DOMAINABC.COM and its preceding @ symbol
("@DOMAINABC.COM") are stripped from the address; and the % sign is replaced by
an @ symbol during inbound processing.
The message is deposited into MAIL.BOX, with an address of USER@DOMAINXYZ.COM.
Router performs a lookup for DOMAINXYZ.COM in NAMES.NSF and matches
DOMAINXYZ.COM with *.* from the Foreign SMTP Domain document.
The message is transferred to SMTP.BOX as a Relay message destined for
DOMAINXYZ.COM.
