Technote Number: 1188887
Problem:
It has been determined that the drag and drop issue occurs in Domino Web Access
(DWA) after the Microsoft Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
(834707) has been installed.
Note: This problem will also occur if Microsoft Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer (889293) is installed. KB889293 is a cumulative fix that
includes KB834707.
Note: One customer has identified another Microsoft Security Patch, KB867282,
to cause the drag and drop functionality not to work.
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# CPAN65S5CT and SPR#
ABUI65WKNV; these SPRs have been addressed in Domino Web Access (DWA) 6.5.4 and
6.0.5.
Excerpts from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.4 and 6.0.5 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):
Security
SPR# CPAN65S5CT - Unable to Drag & Drop after installing Microsoft's Security
patch #MS04-038. To fix this problem, 6.0.5/6.5.4 must be installed and users
must add the Domino server domain to their list of trusted sites (Internet
Explorer - Tools/Internet Options/Security..).
Performance
SPR# ABUI65WKNV - Cannot drag and drop documents after installing MS Update
834707. This problem has been fixed in 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.
Client UI
SPR# DGUY66UT45 - Changed the current Drag & Drop mechanism to avoid conflict
with MS security patch #MS04-038. You will now be able to Drag & Drop using IE
or Mozilla, but you may only Drag & Drop to the same window and not to other
windows or iframes.
SPR# DGUY66UTBC - Created true URL references to avoid conflict with MS
security patch #MS04-038. Drag & Drop in Calendar views can only be
accomplished with IE, currently.
Caveat: As cited in one of the fix list excerpts above, in addition to
installing 6.0.5/6.5.4 users must also add the Domino server to their list of
trusted sites in IE. From the IE menu, select Tools > Internet Options >
Security tab; select the Trusted Sites icon and select the Sites button. Then
type the Domino server url in the 'Add this Web Site to the Zone' box and
select Add, then select OK.
Workaround:
A workaround, aside from manually moving your mail documents into the desired
folders and manually editing the dates of your Calendar entries, is to
uninstall the offending patch via the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Windows
Control Panel; Drag & Drop should then work in DWA.
