Installing Domino 6.5.x Fix Packs on Linux when there is a Language Pack installed

Technote Number: 1196704

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# HHHG6GL47N and
PFOI68AKW6 and has been fixed in Domino 6.5.5 and Domino 7.0.1. Starting with
Domino 6.5.5 Fix Pack 1 and Domino 7.0.1 Fix Pack 1, it is possible to install
a Fix Pack on top of a Language Pack that was installed with the "replace"
option.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.5 fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
SPR# HHHG6GL47N - Fixed a problem where the LanguagePack for the Linux platform
included an incorrect strings.res which prevented proper installations. This
regression was introduced in 6.54.

The problem occurs if the Language Pack was installed with the Replace option.
(Japanese language servers, which use the Language Pack Replace option, will
have this problem with fix packs for Domino 6.5.2 through 6.5.4) Domino 6.5.x
Fix Packs can be installed without problems after Language Packs installed with
the Add option.

If you are installing one of the following fix packs for Domino 6.5.x Linux on
Intel, it requires a change to the install script if the server default
language has been replaced:

6.5.2 fix pack 1
6.5.3 fix pack 1
6.5.4 fix pack 1, fix pack 2, and fix pack 3

To avoid or recover from this problem on Linux on Intel, do the following:
Locate the "install" script that will be run to install the Fix Pack
Edit the script file and remove the "#" from the following two lines
#LP_REPLACE=1
#export LP_REPLACE
For Japanese language servers, also remove the "#" from the following two lines
#LP_JP=1
#export LP_JP
Save the edited file and execute it to install the Fix Pack
