Moving Database with Domino R5 Admin Client Deletes Wrong Replica

Technote Number: 1101935

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering (QE) and was thought to be
addressed in Domino 5.0.7. However, the issue re-appeared and has been
resubmitted to Lotus QE as a regression via SPR #KGEW4PHTY4. Supporting Information:

The following steps reproduce the problem in both scenarios.

Open Server Administration (File, Tools, Server Administration).
Select the Files tab.
Select a database (such as a test mail file in the Mail subdirectory).
Select Tools, Database, Move...
In the "Move Database" dialog box, select the same server that your mail file
is on, so that the server name is highlighted.
Select the "File Names..." button in the "Move Database" dialog box.
In the "Edit Destination Path" dialog box, delete the original subdirectory
name and type a new subdirectory name (such as "TEST" in place of "MAIL" -
without the quotation marks), followed by the database name (such as
"JSMITH.NSF" resulting in "TEST\JSMITH.NSF" - without the quotation marks).
Select the check mark to the right of the new filename in the "Edit Destination
Path" dialog box.
Select "OK" in the "Edit Destination Path" dialog box.
Select "OK" in the "Move Database" dialog box.
See the Domino Administrator dialog box statement: "1 database processed - 0
errors."
Enter the command "tell adminp p n" (without the quotation marks) at the Server
Console.
At the OS prompt, note that the file exists in the new location.
Open ADMIN4.NSF.
Refresh if necessary (such as by entering F9).
Open the document entitled "Approve Deletion of Moved Replica."
Note that the database referenced in the request for removal is the new
database (such as "TEST\JSMITH.NSF"), not the original database (such as
"MAIL\JSMITH.NSF").
If you approve the removal of the database, you are removing the replica of the
database in its new location, negating the value of having carried out the Move
procedure in Server Administration.

Open Server Administration (such as via File, Tools, Server Administration).
Select the Files tab.
Select a database (such as a test mail file in Mail subdirectory).
Select Tools, Database (right pane), Move...
In the "Move Database" dialog box, select the same server that your mail file
is on, so the server name is highlighted.
DO NOT select the check mark to the right of the new filename in the "Edit
Destination Path" dialog box.
Console.
At the OS prompt, note that the file DOES NOT exist in the new location.
Open ADMIN4.NSF.
Refresh if necessary (such as by entering F9).
Open the document entitled "Approve Deletion of Moved Replica."
Note that the database referenced in the request for removal is the ORIGINAL
database (such as "MAIL\JSMITH.NSF"), not the new replica (such as
"TEST\JSMITH.NSF").
If you approve removal of the database and do not have a backup of the
database, you lose all copies of the database because you have approved removal
of the original and the Move process never occurred (there is not a replica of
the database in the new location).
