Router crashes during mail routing when MailConvertMIMEonTransfer is set to 1

Technote Number: 1253471

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# THTO6RKVUZ and was fixed
in the Lotus NotesĀ®/Domino 6.5.6 MR and 7.0.2 FP 1 releases.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino 6.5.6 fix list and 7.0.2 FP1 fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

MIME to CD conversion
SPR# THTO6RKVUZ - An empty multi-part entity caused a router crash when using
the notes.ini variable, "MailConvertMIMEonTransfer=1".

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.

This situation occurs because of an empty MIME part without any content which
contains just the boundary markers in quotes, for example,

Content-Type: multipart/alternative;
boundary="------=_Part_592_8640426.1148302817504"

where "------= is empty.

If you haven't yet upgraded and experience this issue, you can reset the
MailConvertMIMEonTransfer parameter to 0 in the notes.ini file on the server.
You must have access to the server to do this.
