AdminP Requests (Mail Delegation, Roaming User Upgrades, etc.) Fail for Certain Users on Domino 6 Server

Technote Number: 1109808

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus software Quality Engineering and has been
fixed in Domino 6.0.3.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.3 MR fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

SPR# ETHU5M9L73 - Corrected an Admin process "mail-in" failure, when admin4 is
"locked down" and the local name lookup uses a directory catalog which includes
mailin directories.

Background:

The Domino 6.0 version of the Administration Process supports complete lockdown
of the Admin4.nsf database from the end user. Under these conditions, the
Administration process routines will recognize that the user cannot directly
deposit the request into the Admin4.nsf database and instead will mail it to
the database.

Whenever the end user's client lacks connectivity to the server of interest, or
lacks Access Control List (ACL) rights to the Admin4 database, and a directory
catalog is used which contains multiple entries for the Administration Requests
"Mail-In" database, background addressing (for the mail-in functionality) fails
because of the ambiguity of the address. Unfortunately, no errors are reported
and nothing is logged, therefore the user is given no indication that something
went wrong.

Prior to 6.0.3. this issue could occur in any situation where the client is
responsible for generating an Administration request. These Administration
requests include Mail Delegation, Client information update, Moving mail, and
roaming user upgrades.

The end user can work around this issue by creating directory catalog files
which do not contain the mail-in databases, or by removing the directory
catalog from their lookup list.
