SPRTechnote

Editing an attachment in received email allows you to resend that email so it appears to come from the original sender

Technote Number: 1097683

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering and has been fixed in Notes
6.0.1 CF1.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino 6.0.1 CF1 fix list (available at
http://www.lotus.com/ldd/r5fixlist.nsf):

Attachments
SPR# PALT5JARHR - Users can no longer edit a received e-mail attachment, and
then resend the e-mail, with the edited attachment, as though it came from the
original sender.

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.

Supporting Information:

A couple of additional observations:

If you do not have an attachment in the email, and you just put it into Edit
mode and make some changes, and then press Escape, you get the Send Mail dialog
box. However, if you press the Send button in this scenario, it does not
actually send out the email. This is a different issue, which is described in
the document titled "Pressing the ESC key to close an edited memo sometimes
defaults to the Send & Save option" (#1203995).

Although you have to have an attachment in an email in order to get it to send,
you can also get an email that does not have an attachment to do the same thing
by just adding an attachment to it.
