Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# SNAR475JDR and was fixed
in Notes/Domino release 6.5.5.

SPR# SNAR475JDR - Fixed GetItemValueString local to match CORBA for no value
case.
If you haven't yet upgraded, you can possibly work around this issue by writing
a wrapper function around the GetItemValueString method to test for a null
value and get an empty string instead.
The error in the Domino Designer 7.0 documentation was reported to Quality
Engineering as SPR# YPHG6KJEDP.
