Event Handler Wizard Error: 'The selected event generator could not be found..."

Technote Number: 1115715

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering and has been addressed in Domino
6.0.5 and 6.5.3.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.3 MR fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Statistics
SPR# GSER5P3TA8 - Error: "The selected event generator could not be found, it
may have been deleted" was received after selecting a custom event generator.
This regression was introduced in 6.0.

As a workaround, replace the template for Events4.nsf with the template from a
V6.0.x server. In some cases, Events4.nsf had to be completely recreated; in
others, simply replacing the design was enough to correct the problem.

Note: The same errors will occur regardless of whether an Event Handler is
created through the Setup Wizard or via the Event Handlers view of Events4.nsf.

You can also workaround this issue by manually creating an event handler in
this events4.nsf without having to replace the template.

You create the event handler:
-Choose "New Event Handler"
-Choose which server to monitor (this will default to "notify of the event on
any server in the domain" with next choice)

-On the notification trigger, choose "a customer event generator"

The next tab "Event" will show the error message spoke of, but you can remove
this with a specific choice. Hit the small button to the right of the Select
the event blank (not the button that says new...").
This will bring up a custom event selector box.
Choose which event you would like the handler to run for.

Once you do this, the area that contained the error message will be populated
with the event/statistic information.

The action tab can be filled out as usual.
