Problem:
Prior to release 5.0.9 of Notes, the Notes client looked in the local Address
Book for the user. If found, it looked in the LocalAdmin field for the name to
send to. This changed in Notes Release 5.0.9 and higher.
Notes Domino Release 5.0.9 and higher attempts to populate the address field in
the following way.
a. Goes to public Domino Directory (names.nsf) on the home server and locates
the certifier email address (in the names.nsf, goes to Server - Certificates,
Notes Certifiers, opens the Certifier document and looks up in the Contact
Information tab for Other Mail Address). If this field is filled in, then it
will populate the address field. If the certifier is an OU (eg.
/Partners/ABCCompany), it checks the OU first, and if there is none there, then
it checks the O (eg. /ABCCompany).
If this yields nothing then:
b. Goes to the public Domino Directory on the home server and locates the
Person record for the person doing the recertification. Determines if there is
an Administrator listed on Administration tab, and uses that name.
Note Another option for an administrator is to recertify users via the
Administrative Process (AdminP) so that users are not required to send their ID
files.
Originally (in releases prior to 5.0.9), this was a design decision because
organizations have different people who are responsible for different IDs.
This functionality prevented IDs being sent to the wrong person. More >
