Notes Mac Client: Binhex Encoding Corrupts .TIF Attachment on Outgoing Mail

Technote Number: 1179134

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus software Quality Engineering and has been
addressed in Notes 6.0.4 and 6.5.2.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.4 / 6.5.2 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Attachments
SPR# CGAA5U6QV6 - Fixed a corrupt attachment when Binhex was used as the
outgoing Macintosh client attachment encoding format.

Workarounds:
(1) Set the server and client MIME settings mentioned above to "Binhex" and set
the Notes Client "Format for messages addressed to internet addresses" to
"Notes Rich Text."

OR

(2) Set the server and client Mime settings to "Apple Double". Note that the
side effect is that Apple Double may split the attachment into a resource fork
and data fork. PC users will only be able to use the data fork. The data fork
typically is larger than the resource fork. Refer to RFC 1740 for more
information on this.
