Entering and onFocus Events in Native OS Control Fields Are Not Triggered When Using Mouse

Technote Number: 1097752

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Domino Designer/Notes 5.0.3.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.3 QMR fix list:

Client

SPR# STAR4BTEPJ - Fix a problem with the OnFocus event not getting triggered
when clicking into a calendar/time control field from another calendar/time
control field using the mouse. Moving between such fields with the keyboard has
always worked correctly. [5.0.3]

As a workaround for versions prior to 5.0.3, the Entering and onFocus events
work if you tab to the Native OS Style field instead of using the mouse to
click on the field. The Entering and onFocus events works correctly using any
other kind of Notes Style field.Supporting Information:

The following steps reproduce this problem in versions prior to 5.0.3:

1. In Domino Designer 5.x, create a form with three fields:

Field Name Entering Event Formula Field Style
Text Print "Entering Text" Notes Style
combobox1 Print "Entering Combo1" Native OS Style
combobox2 Print "Entering Combo2" Native OS Style

2. Using the Notes R5 client, create a document that uses this form.
3. Click on the Text field. Note that the status bar at the bottom of the
Notes screen displays "Entering Text".
4. Click on the combobox1 field. Note that the status bar displays "Entering
Combo1". This is correct.
5. Click in the combobox2 field. Note that the status bar still displays
"Entering Combo1". Clicking on subsequent Native OS Style fields does not
trigger the Entering Event.
