What Is the Dummy.txt File in Notes Client Directories and Can it Be Removed?

Technote Number: 1100641

Problem:
Dummy.txt is a small text file, and is used as part of the install process and
the creation of subdirectories. It is used only during install of the Notes
Client. You can remove this file if desired.

An enhancement request, to remove the Dummy.txt files from all Notes
directories after the completion of the Notes Client install, was submitted to
Lotus Quality Engineering, and was addressed in Notes 5.0.5 Client.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.5 QMR fix list:

Install & Setup - Registration - Client Install & Uninstall
SPR# MDRW45XNJH - Fixed a problem that left a dummy.txt file after the
installation of help files. This is a regression from R5.0.
