Free Time Is not Updated (Schedule Manager Shuts Down) After Upgrading to Domino R5

Technote Number: 1086483

Problem:
This problem occurs if the Person documents for the users contain a forwarding
address. If so, then Schedule Manager will terminate and will not restart.
This issue occurs only after an upgrade from a previous release of Domino 5.x.
The log indicates an error initializing the Schedule Manager:

<date> 12:33:27 PM SchedMgr: Error validating entry: User A/DomainA in
Schedule Database: User's mail is being forwarded to another location
<date> 12:33:27 PM SchedMgr: Done validating Schedule Database
<date> 12:33:27 PM Error initializing Schedule Manager: User's mail is being
forwarded to another location

Workaround:
After the upgrade, shut down the Domino Server. Rename or delete the
BUSYTIME.NSF and load the Sched task to allow Schedule Manager to create a new
BUSYTIME.NSF file. Start the Domino Server. Or, if using clustered servers,
shut down all servers in the cluster. Rename the CLUBUSY.NSF of each server in
the cluster. Start each server in the cluster.

The Schedule Manager task will still display the error but it should not
terminate. To see if the Schedule Manager task terminated check the log for
the "Error initializing Schedule Manager" error message or do a Sho Task at the
server console. The Schedule Manager under a good working condition should be
in the state of 'idle'.

NOTE: If the Domino Server is restarted, the error will occur again and
Busytime.nsf will need to be deleted again.

This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering, and was addressed in
Domino 5.0.7 Server. Note: This issue does not occur in Domino 6.0 Server.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 5.0.7 QMR fix list (available
at http://www.notes.net):

Calendaring & Scheduling - Group Scheduling
SPR# MALZ4QEP6Q - Allow schedule manager to initialize if a person with a
forwarding address is present in busytime. This was a regression problem
introduced in 5.0.5 where the schedule manager would not initialize if a person
with a forwarding address was present in the busytime database. It now behaves
as in 5.0.4, where users with forwarding addresses do not prevent the scheduler
from loading.

Supporting Information:

The message, "User's mail is being forwarded to another location" is an
informational message stating that all calendar invitations will be routed to
the address listed in the Forwarding Address field of the Person document.
This is a normal message that the Sched task will deliver. Previous upgrades
prior to Notes/Domino 5.0.5 did not cause the Sched task to terminate when
encountering a forwarding address in the Person document.
