Users Lose Access to Mail Files After User Rename Action in Domino 6.x on AIX

Technote Number: 1140764

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus software Quality Engineering and has been
fixed in Domino Release 6.5.1.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.1 MR fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

SPR# JVEK5QRDHU - Fixed the Rename Action to allow users accessing an AIX
server to be known by their old and new names.

As a workaround, ensure the Domino Directory views are refreshed after a user
accepts the name change.

Supporting Information:
The issue occurs when you attempt to access your mailfile immediately after
accepting the name change, or if the name change is accepted automatically in
Domino 6.x. The Domino Directory does not refresh after your client has
accepted the name change.

It appears as though the new name does not have the rights to the mailfile.
However, the new name will have the rights to the mailfile by virtue of the
username field in the Person document, which will contain both old and new
names until Adminp purges old requests (default is 21 days). Once the Domino
Directory views have been refreshed, the user can now access the mailfile.
