Notes API Call MailGetMessageBodyText() Adds Linefeed Characters and Causes Notes to Malfunction

Technote Number: 1094434

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Notes/Domino 4.6.7 and 5.0.3.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.3 QMR fix list:

API
SPR# WAN49ME5W - Some rare situations where the Notes C API functions
MailGetMessageBodyText and ConvertItemToText could fail to justify lines
correctly have been fixed. These functions take an argument, LineLength and
CharsPerLine, respectively, that determine the maximum number of characters to
place on a single line of text. Previously, very long "words" (sequences of
undelimited characters) could be split onto two lines before the line length
was exhausted. [5.0.3]

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 4.6.7 QMR fix list:

API
SPR# WAN49ME5W - Fix problems with incorrect line wrapping under certain
circumstances when using MailGetMessageBodyText. [4.6.7]

Workarounds:

1. For DS/Notes, use values of LINELENGHTOUT parameter larger than 72 (for
example, 85) in the AU/Notes Parm.dat.

2. If both DS/Notes and MEMO use the same server, install a separate server for
routing mail to the MEMO domain.
