Domino R5 SMTP Server Renames Filenames of Attachments of Inbound Messages to "C"

Technote Number: 1089755

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Domino 5.0.6.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 5.0.6 QMR fix list
(available at http://www.notes.net):

SMTP

LMIL4M5LAE SPR# LMIL4M5LAE - The MIME to CD Converter will now use a valid file
name parameter, even if any part of the header is unknown to the converter.Supporting Information:

The Domino 5.0.5 and earlier MIME-to-CD converter names an attachment to an
SMTP message a valid file name parameter, even if a part of the message's
header is unknown to the converter. For example, the converter will give the
attachment a known file name parameter, if (1) the SMTP header of an inbound
message does not include "filename=filename.extension", and (2) the message is
to be converted from MIME to Notes Rich Text.

Examples: If the attachment is a 123 attachment, it is renamed "C.123". If
the attachment has a .DOC extension, it is renamed "C.DOC". If the attachment
has a .JPEG extension, it s renamed "C.JPEG".
