Domino Web Access Mail or Alarm Polling Prevents Single-server Sessions From Timing Out

Technote Number: 1095391

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering and has been
addressed in Domino Web Access 6.0.2 CF1.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino fix list
(http://www.lotus.com/ldd/r5fixlist.nsf):

SPR# BDAS5B2QYR - Fixed a problem where iNotes Web Access session timeout was
not correct when mail or alarm polling.

As a workaround for versions prior to 6.0.2 CF1, the Domino administrator must
disable alarm polling and set the 'Minimum Allowed Mail Polling Time' to be a
greater number than the server 'Idle Session Time Out' setting.

Supporting Information:

How to set Mail polling time:

In the Domino Web Access client, go to Preferences and on the Mail tab there is
an option for Receiving called 'Check for New Mail every X Minutes.' This
option is set to every 5 minutes by default.

How to set Alarm Polling:

On the Domino Web Access tab of the Configuration document, the "Alarm Polling
Time" option is set to 5 minutes is the default.
