Lotus Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 Release Notice
January 14, 2010

IBM Lotus announces the release of Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4, a scheduled Fix Pack of a limited number of low-risk, high-impact fixes to help customers safely avoid known issues. IBM strongly recommends that customers running Notes/Domino 8.0.2 upgrade to this latest Fix Pack since it addresses a small percentage of defects that impact the broadest set of customers. Fix Packs are released periodically between Maintenance Releases to provide a greater level of stability for customer environments. They go through the same level of fix, regression and interoperability testing that occurs with Maintenance Releases. Future Fix Packs are always cumulative and contain all of the fixes from previous ones.

As with 8.0.2 Fix Packs 1, 2 and 3, Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 addresses defects in both the Client and Server. All Fix Packs, including 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4, are language independent and may be applied on any language version of Notes/Domino 8.0.2. (Note: Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packs for Notes 8.0.2.x should be installed before fixes. See technote #1404436 for more details.)

Download options
See technote #4026644 - "Download options for Notes/Domino 8.0.2 Fix Packs." Fix Packs will not be distributed on CD.
  • If you have Notes 8.0.2 Basic Configuration or Notes/Admin/Designer (Basic edition) 8.0.2 installed, use the Notes 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 Basic install.
  • If you have Notes 8.0.2 Standard Configuration or Notes/Admin/Designer (Standard edition) 8.0.2 installed, use the Notes 8.0.2 Fix Pack 4 Standard install.

Decision to upgrade
Customers unable to upgrade to later Releases will want to install Fix Packs to benefit from later fixes made to the product. By providing a small number of fixes, customers are able to accept fewer code changes with lower risk, allowing them to "patch" an older Maintenance Release until a more extensive upgrade to the current Release is possible.

However, while Fix Packs provide important fixes and IBM strongly recommends applying the latest Fix Pack available for a Maintenance Release, IBM still recommends that customers upgrade to the latest Release + Fix Pack combination to receive the broadest set of fixes available. You will receive more overall fixes with a later Release + Fix Pack than with a set of Fix Packs on top of an earlier Maintenance Release. For more information, see technote #1368141 - "Differences between Notes/Domino Maintenance Releases, Fix Packs and Cumulative Client Hotfixes."

Fixes contained in this Fix Pack

Note: A plus symbol (+) before the SPR number indicates a fix for a regression bug. A regression bug is an issue that was introduced in a Maintenance Release that did not exist in previous releases of that code stream. For example, a bug that appears in R8.0.2 but did not exist in R8.0.1 is a regression.

Client
  • +SPR# ADEE7XW9RU - Fixes potential issues with Java plugins that are dependent on the CSI (Common Services Interface). One possible symptom is corruption of the inheritance hierarchy. For example, if a 3rd party plugin checks to see if their DocumentSummary object is an instance of NotesDocumentSummary, the value of false will be returned, when it should be true. This regression was introduced in 8.0.2 FP1.
  • SPR# ADC7CYQLN - When sending a document with multibyte characters to the internet and autosave is enabled, autosave starts saving in the middle of the save and send. Autosave has been blocked while a save or mail is in progress or a dialog is up.
  • +SPR# AJAS7PDKER - After restart, the top of the workspace icon stack does not honor the Mail file location set defined in the location document. This regression was introduced from 8.0.2 (Technote #1394638)
  • SPR# BSCT7G8BUQ - Dynamic Client Configuration: Returned an error adding policy information to the address book: Note item not found.
  • SPR# CSMH7B6LPA - Fixed an issue where Operating System shutdown was halted by the Notes client. The Notes client also remained in a non responsive state. In some cases, you might see the Operating Systems kill process dialog with "End now" and "Cancel" buttons. Please only select "End now" as "Cancel" will leave client in a bad state. SPR# MLAT7TGLYN has been opened to prevent the dialog (having "End now" & "Cancel" buttons) and let the client smoothly shut down.
  • SPR# DCOY7K7L3C - Deleting an Email with preview in local copy does double IPC operations.(Technote #1383017)
  • SPR# DDWL7LYKM9 - LotusScript method NotesDocument.Created might not return the time properly from some mail received from SMTP. This fix corrects the way we fetch the time/date. This is fixed in the Server as well as the Client.
  • +SPR# DPOL7TBK9F - Focus of selected document in an embedded view is lost. This regression was introduced in 8.0.
  • SPR# GMAA7SGCWW - Prior to this fix, Sametime Awareness would work only when a user had logged into the primary community first. It did not work when logging into any other community other than the primary community. With this fix, code will now look to all communities.
  • SPR# HDAN7TBPEF - Prior to this fix, partial name searches failed due to too many results returned.
  • +SPR# HDAN7XXLMH - Internet contacts in the Lotus Notes contact list presence not showing in inbox. This regression was introduced in 8.0.2 FP2.
  • SPR# HKOA7J6DVH - Fixed a problem where the mail database was opening in a new tab instead of the placeholder tab of the bookmark created.
  • SPR# JLAE7JEMCQ - This fix allows the persistence of the CalendarFooter state when set via the Calendar Footer menu. Now when a user closes and reopens the Calendar view, the previous state of the Calendar footer will be restored.(Technote #1412966)
  • SPR# JSTN7GVNVM - Notes crashes when printing or previewing with "Print Calendar to a Document" in the Resource & Reservation database. (Technote #1327354)
  • SPR# JSTN7HGULD - Prior to this fix, scheduled replication was not working when a server name, in the connection doc, was named the same as the location doc. For example, "Home" was used as a location name and the server name "home/home/net" was used in the server connection doc. (Technote #1316120)
  • SPR# LWZU7VS6N9 - Prior to this fix, platform.xml for a non-admin user was not cleaned up properly after the Admin upgraded the feature patch.
  • SPR# MCMA7LLMN6 - Mail document body is not displayed in Notes 8.0.2 Standard client if large HTML is embedded in the message. (Technote #1328873)
  • SPR# MCMA7VPKUN - When a group with the same name exists in the local and server replicas, and was also in recent contacts, the recent contacts version was used and the ambiguous dialog box was not displayed. This regression was introduced in 8.0. (Technote #1403709)
  • SPR# MJBG7VHPFB - Fixed a Domino/Notes crash on CD to MIME conversion of a calendar entry with a large number of RepeatDates. Opening a response from the invitee would display the following error: "Field is too large (32K) or View's column and selection formulas are too large".
  • +SPR# OAGU7CQJ76 - $KeepPrivate set does not allow users to print. The fix is if $KeepPrivate is present with a value of "0", then the user may print the document. This regression was introduced in 8.0.1. Please be aware that this feature is only a deterrent and not a true security feature.
  • SPR# PMIA76ZHT6 - An error message "View Format has been modified by someone" was displayed intermittently when the view was open. This was caused due to a corrupt cache.ndk. This SPR fixes this issue by loading the frameset data from the database rather than the cache. This also fixes the corruption as the newly loaded frameset data is overwritten on the cache's corrupt data.
  • SPR# RJBR7YLJ6T - Fixes potential API incompatibilities between the fix pack and gold versions of the com.ibm.notes.java.api plugin.
  • +SPR# SKAI7VKJGB - Error "Operation not currently implemented" occurs with Notes URL when using @URLOpen. This regression was introduced in 8.0.2 FP2.
  • SPR# TMDS77MPPM - Day-At-A-Glance will now automatically refresh to the next day. If CalendarRefreshOnSystemDateChange=1 is set in the Notes.ini, the main and Day At A Glance calendars will navigate to the current system date approximately 60 seconds after the system date changes. If CalendarRefreshOnSystemDateChange=0 (the default) is set in the Notes.ini OR if CalendarRefreshOnSystemDateChange does not exist at all in the Notes.ini, no such navigation will take place.(Technote #1283277)
  • SPR# VPRS7H4UEK - Fixed a crash that would appear in agents attempting MIME conversion, with a complicated MIME stream. This SPR is fixed in the Client as well as the Server. (Technote #1317870)
  • SPR# WEBB7G7DTE - Fixed a problem with conversation history. To recreate, select Show Conversations, then look at a conversation. From that point onward while conversations are still active you cannot open the correct e-mail. If you select an email, Notes will open the last e-mail that you read NOT the one that you have just selected. You then need to close the incorrect mail message and then you will be able to open your selected e-mail. When Conversations are turned off, the view performs normally. (Technote #1318795)
  • SPR# WTON7U8K7B - Inbox automatic refresh breaks after opening messages in a conversation thread. (Technote #1394659)
  • SPR# YGAO7N9K6C - Fixed the Notes client SMIME crash when opening signed mail sent from a user with alternate extension subject key identifier present in the signer's leaf certificate sent in the signature.
  • SPR# YZHG7H9DDJ - With this fix, we search for the keyview.ini in the Shared data directory as well, when using a Multi-User Notes Install. (Technote #1322427)
  • SPR# YZZU7KTFUC - @Word returns the specified word from a text string. In 8.0, due to a new character conversion module under Notes/Domino, an incorrect conversion would take place of multi-byte characters that would cause this function to fail for strings that contained both single and multi-byte characters. This incorrect conversion has been corrected for the appropriate character sets.

iNotes
  • SPR# ABAI7K3Q5G - Check code was added in order to avoid passing an invalid value to a function.
  • SPR# GFUR7V3RFR - Fixed an HTTP Crash when loading Domino Web Access skins.
  • SPR# JKEG7KHLPG - Fixed a server crash on Router and HTTP when sending SMTP messages.

Server
  • SPR# CDFO6XRLJL - Fixed an intermittent error "Extendible hash index is corrupt and can't be used". This is an internal condition where the conversation threads cache gets compromised and has to be rebuilt. This can result in sudden system shutdowns, client crashes, etc. The client will rebuild the cache in the background so the user really doesn't need to see this message. (Technote #1096313)
  • SPR# DADS7NCLU2 - There is a bug with Windows 64 that requires each application to try to manage the file system cache itself. If no application sets a max size to this cache, it will grow until it consumes all memory. Domino 32 has a fix for this, where a program called ncacheset.exe is provided and invoked upon Domino start. This exe only sets a max cache size. (Technote #1391477)
  • SPR# DBRK7DYMAJ - Migrating from Microsoft Exchange could give the error "Address book restriction failed" when migrating all users and groups.
  • SPR# DTEI7HHB4V - Fixed a problem when the Out of Office Service encountered an error when attempting to save the Out of Office response.
  • SPR# FLII7KUCVL - CPU would spike when opening a document via Domino HTTP. The Domino web server could get stuck when serving a document that contains sections. The data document was in an unexpected form and caused the web server to loop infinitely. The fix now accounts for the form of the data in the document.(Technote #1392836)
  • SPR# GHAN7LYL37 - Fixed a problem where the MTC was constantly issuing the error message "Dynamically changing AutoIndex value due to non-standard SEL" and was subsequently changing the indexing algorithm.
  • SPR# JUYA7PLM2D - Fixed an issue where Directory= was being incorrectly set to the program directory in the Notes.ini. This fix also added additional diagnostic capabilities to interfaces which read and write to the Notes.ini.
  • SPR# KCAR7THKRC - Fixed an infinite loop which occurred when converting UUEncoded Mime attachments to CD. A workaround for this issue is to remove the database quota on the target database.
  • SPR# KHAN7QQPGY - This fix resolves a crash which can occur under certain circumstances when converting data's on-disk structure (ODS). (Technote #1380288)
  • SPR# LBJC7LPDJG - Fixed a server crash in the CA process due to low memory conditions.
  • SPR# LBUE7DBPBG - This fix prevents a web-probe crash on Windows 64 Domino that can occur under certain circumstances.(Technote #1382068)
  • SPR# LMIL7S9QSM - This fix addresses a problem when Domino attempted to serve out a message that had itemize errors and appended the MIME source as an EML attachment when itemized. The way Domino serves the information caused the crash.
  • SPR# LQTN7XVD8R - Error "Installer hasn't found the correct backup version of Notes to revert to" was displayed when trying to downgrade from 8.5.1 FP1 to 8.5.1. This regression was introduced in 8.5.1 FP1.
  • SPR# LQTN7Y5ANA - After downgrading from 8.0.2 FP4 to 8.0.2 FP3, some files were not recovered to FP3 during the uninstall process. This problem has been fixed in 8.0.2 FP4.
  • SPR# LXLX7UUBYJ - Prior to this fix, 8.0.2 FP3 could not be uninstalled to 8.0.2 FP2. The 8.0.2 FP2 release was not a selection to revert to in the Incremental Installer dialog. This regression was introduced in 8.0.2 FP3.
  • SPR# LXLX7VZBUG - Fixed a problem where Notes.ini settings in the language pack were not updated correct on revert.
  • SPR# LXLX7XHCA4 - Fixed a problem uninstalling to 8.0.2 FP3 when Domino 8.0.2 FP4 was installed through incremental kit.
  • SPR# MIAS7METFE - Addresses an issue where processing corrupt data could cause a server outage.(Technote #1380288)
  • SPR# MKEN7JXPUM - Fixed a problem where the Quickr plugin could corrupt memory dealing with a URL with international characters.
  • SPR# MLEE7RUKB2 - Replication attempt with no matches crashes the server. (Technote #1405763)
  • SPR# MSKA7WSSMB - For customers that are experiencing a contention issue on the NAB due to the policies code accessing the directory, an INI variable can be set to turn this off: DISABLE_EXT_POLICIES=1 in the server's INI file. Note: this will prevent the use of extended policies such as Roaming, Traveler, Symphony, and Connections.
  • SPR# NXLE7L698S - Resolved an Internet Cluster Manager crash on Solaris.(Technote #1413323)
  • SPR# SKAI7J3HBA - This fix addresses a problem that leads to a memory overwrite in certain cases when accessing a corrupt ACL. The fix is to validate the ACL structure when it is opened. (Technote #1323302)
  • SPR# SWAS7QBMZX - Panic: Unexpected internal error returned to logger. Two timing issues involving archiving of the txn logs extents and the cleanup/reuse of them existed that resulted in a panic.
  • SPR# WSCN7V4MAN - Fixed a crash during SMIME processing and low memory. (Technote #1407063)
  • SPR# YCDL7B6BYW - Compact may crash while processing mail messages containing SMIME signatures. This fix corrects the problem.
