Overview
This document describes the test configuration deployed by the Domino System Verification Test (SVT) team that focused on upgrade and backward compatibility testing for the 8.5.3 Notes/Domino release with older versions of Notes/Domino. The Domino servers were installed on Windows NT, Windows 2003, Redhat 5 and SLES 10 operating systems. The Notes clients were installed on Windows XP and Redhat 5. The goal for this setup was testing upgrade, migration and backward compatibility. Our goal is to provide you with hints and tips for your own deployment.

This configuration included multiple versions of Notes and Domino on various operating systems.

Domino Server Configuration
This configuration was a basic setup. The main purpose was to verify upgrade, migration and backward compatibility with Notes/Domino.
The hub server was Domino 6.5.6 server. There were no clustered servers. Smart Upgrade was configured on the Domino 8.5.3 server.
Testing Synopsis

This configuration hosted testing of various items such as:
  • Calendar & Scheduling Backward Compatibility between Notes 8.5.3 clients and older Notes clients
  • Upgrading and migration of data with older Notes Domino servers and Notes clients
  • Upgrade Notes 6.5.6, 8.0.2, 8.5.1 and 8.5.2 clients using Smart Upgrade
  • Upgrade Citrix 7.0.x, 8.0.x and 8.5.x clients
