The Domino servers were installed on Windows NT, Windows 2003, Redhat 5 and SLES 10 operating systems. The Notes clients were installed on Windows XP and Redhat 5. The goal for this setup was testing upgrade, migration and backward compatibility. Our goal is to provide you with hints and tips for your own deployment.
This configuration included multiple versions of Notes and Domino on various operating systems.

This configuration was a basic setup. The main purpose was to verify upgrade, migration and backward compatibility with Notes/Domino.
The hub server was Domino 6.5.6 server. There were no clustered servers . Smart Upgrade was configured on the Domino 8.5.3 server.
This configuration hosted testing of various items such as:
- Calendar & Scheduling Backward Compatibility between Notes 8.5.3 clients and older Notes clients
- Upgrading and migration of data with older Notes Domino servers and Notes clients
- Upgrade Notes 6.5.6, 8.0.2, 8.5.1 and 8.5.2 clients using Smart Upgrade
- Upgrade Citrix 7.0.x, 8.0.x and 8.5.x clients
NOTE: Every customer 's configuration is different. Our results were obtained in a controlled test environment. Customer environments are usually less optimal and may not get the same results. Understanding your environment (usage scenario, network, etc...) is crucial before recommending scaling numbers, hardware and solutions.Installation Notes, Hints and tips |
