 I think I understand what you are trying to do. Tommy Valand has an excellent  blog which I believe explains how to do this.

Thank You! The entry in Tommy's blog is what I was looking for. It worked and I have now inserted my custom control within the pager for the view control. The alignment is off a bit so I need to figure that out, but otherwise it is what I need. Thanks again for the tip.
