I have been fighting the same thing also. It is somehow a caching issue, and, in my opinion a bug. XPINC seems to cache XPages executable stuff locally at the Notes Client but also does some checking to make sure they are current. the Error 500 occurs when things change.

I have setup a VM with just the Notes Client installed so I can test and restart reasonably quickly to work around this pain (in some place down low) feature.

I just upgraded my Notes client from 8.5.2 to 8.5.3 and now I'm having some strange issues.

1) If I make any change to an xpage design element in an existing, working database, the next time I open the application, I get "Error 500 - Unexpected error condition". Restarting the Notes client resolves the issue, which does not occur again until I modify another design element. Compacting, fixup, making a copy of the database - all failed to fix the issue.

2) All xpage applications are extremely slow even when using the new XPagesPreload and XPagesPreloadDB INI settings. The slowness is not just on the first load - and it happens on all navigation links.

Initially, I installed 8.5.3 on top of 8.5.2. When I started having problems, I completely removed Notes from my machine (files + registry) and installed a fresh copy of 8.5.3. Still no luck.

Finally, I tried creating a new database with 1 xpage and 1 ssjs library - still having the "Error 500" issue, but seems to load fast.

Any ideas? I'm going to roll-back to 8.5.2 for now so I can move forward with my current project, but I'll setup a test client and continue looking at this issue.

Please supply a Fixpack to this immediately; we're trying to build an XPiNC application using the extension library and this problem makes development impossible.

I have a clean install of Lotus Notes 8.5.3. Having the same issue "Error 500 Unexpected error condition" when changing XPages within a newly created DB. What causes it? When will be there a fixpack?
