Why Data Connection Resources - DCR is not working?

I have downloaded Domino Designer 9 Social Edition, Designer, Notes Client and Administrator and installed it locally on my machine to experiment how Webb development works with designer. I am now trying to get data from a RDBMS as Oracle database by using DCR. I create a new Data Connection, and a form with a field for external data and a view for the data. I have followed all the details but it doesn't work and I get this message when I click "Import External Records" for my data connection:

Unable to find any path to Local because Unable to find path to server. Check that your network connection is working. If you have working connection, go to Prefereneces - Notes Port and click Trace to discover where it breaks down.

When i check Notes Ports in Preferences, it is nothing there, also no ports to choose to trace.

I am almost giving up with Domino. . Any idea what might the problem be?

I don't think this has anything to do with DCR's but more to do with the fact that you Notes Client is not configured properly. You must have a working Network protocol (IE TCP/IP).

Make sure the TCP Port is enabled and your current location document is "online"
