Search Problem in ViewPanel

Hi,
 
I have  view panel for  Companies and Contacts. Company Name is not stored in the Contact document. Just the Company key is stored in the Contact document so that I can retrieve all the company information based on the Company key.
 
I have looked up the company name in the Contacts ViewPanel.So Now the Contacts view consists of Company Name and Contact Name.
I am trying to search the company name in Contacts view with "Search in View results", but it does not work.
 
Will the search work if the value is not available in the view (but the value is available in the view panel) ?

Are the database fulltext indexed?

Search in view is performed against the (back end) Notes view, so you have to search by company key if you want results.

The Database is full text indexed...
 
The whole purpose of looking up the data from another view is gone if we can't search on the viewPanel.
Now I need to store the Company Name also in the contact document for the search to work.
 
The problem here is if the Company Name changes,then all the contact documents have to patched.
 
Is there any other way of achieving this without storing the Company Name?

You could probably manage it with a type-ahead.
 
OnChange, look up the company key, and filter the view by that. The hard part is probably making it look like the user is searching by name, and not by key.
