Checkbox group bound to manged bean property

I would like to have the checkbox group control on my XPage bound to managed bean property. My first idea that the value returned from the group would be a JAVA vector turned to be wrong and I was not able to worked out how to make the binding work.
Could anybody advice me how to achieve that?

The managed bean property has to be of java.util.ArrayList type.
