Sending parameters from Xpages to Notes view

As title, suggest, can someone can explain to me how to send some parameters (couple of dates, string and a date), to a notes view which will do the filtering for me as I find keys property severly lacking for my purposes (I need to filter some dates  with from and to range, and I just can't do it in xpages)

From an event on your XPage ...

Set one or more viewScope variables, now use them in the filter to the view.
