Lotus Notes Group Issue

I am using Lotus Notes 8.5.3 server,I created a xpage based application,
In that notes will only allow access to the application if you put the person name directly into the acl, it will not work in a group.  I checked this with new and existing acl groups..
 
 Any help would be appreciated..
