I fully agree with what you wrote. The only thing I'd add
is that XPages seem to have lost support from their previous community
for quite some time now. You can see it in this forum -- 25 posts in 2018
so far, responses included. That's next to nothing. 2017 and 2016 weren't
much better. Looking at the dwAnswers forum is even more discouraging:
3 posts total in 2018 that are tagged with "xpages".
A potential answer to your question is "Wait until Notes/Domino 10
are released, then start developing with Node.js". And yes, for many
of us this means going through a long and steep learning curve once again.
