Combining Notes and External Data then sorting by External in XPages

Looking for some ideas on how to best solve this.

First some background:
  • I currently have a set of documents in a Notes database, on those documents is a key to some information in a RDBMS.
  • I used a View Control and computed some columns to lookup info in the RDBMS based on the key (in another column).  That works fine and the view displays all the data I need.
  • This is about 3000 documents and is looking up into RDBMS table that has about 50,000 records.
The trick is I would like to sort the View by one of the columns of data from the RDBMS.

I already assume I will need to change from the View Control to a Repeat.  How best to get the output sorted by the column of external data?

Thanks,
Steve

I suggest to store sort value inside Notes document.

That is what we are trying to avoid.

The key never changes but this value in the RDBMS does change and creates in a maintenance issue of getting these changes into the Notes system.
