I wish I could understand what I'm doing wrong but for some reason, Designer is going through partial hangs every time I (xpages newbie) try to begin learning this new stuff.  It goes through repeated episodes where you would think it is completely hung but I've learned to push away from my desk and leave it alone until it returns from neverland.

Steps:

1. Create a new xpage 

2. Drag a view control directly onto the page 

Settings: 

Show Data from: Domino View 

Application: Other (but on same server) 

View: targetview 

 

The view comes in but thats about as far as I've gotten.  What ensues is that as I click on different areas of the xpage to switch to various Props boxes, it will suddenly pop an hour glass on the screen and hang for 5 minutes.  It will come back fine but it is doing it so much that getting any work done is just about impossible.   It does this every 2-3 minutes.

 

I'm using Windows xp Pro on a T61 ThinkPad.  The Server (which is a test server) is also on 8.5.2 but is running on xp as well.  We've always  run Domino test servers on xp.  Is that a problem for the 8.5 series?  Any other ideas?
