You may have a problem with the search filters in the LDAP document in stconfig.nsf. The quickfind bar (at the top) searches for users and groups whilst when you search for a user it only performs a user search.
You may also have some entries cached locally which is feeding the results in the quickfind bar. Is this a new deployment of Sametime? If not, what changes have you made recently?
If it is a problem with the search filters then I'd expect it to affect all users regardless of client type and version.
Have you tried looking at the sametime*.log in the Trace directory of the Community server for errors? Any errors in the console or console.log? Have you tried restarting the Community server? If you had LDAP trace enabled you could see what is happenig on the Community server for each search you make in the client. If you can put it on then it goes under the [DEBUG] section of the sametime.ini and is VP_LDAP_TRACE=1 but it requires a Community server stop and start.
