My apologies. That was a poorly written response (before coffee). I was trying to make the point that IBM makes a lot of money selling hardware. They need to begin moving now to capture the Linux server application market. Products like Sametime and QuickPlace need to be available on Linux now. It may not result in hardware sales but they will receive new software revenue. There are corporations making their very first decisions on Instant Messaging today. IBM needs to capture this emerging Linux and Macintosh market. I wonder if IM will become rooted in corporations like their email systems. Once they adopt something they will not quickly change.
