Notes Single Logon service not working on Windows 8.1

Since my system was upgraded to Windows 8.1, NLS hasn't worked. I'm always prompted for my password when starting Notes. Is there a configuration change I need to make or a patch to apply?

I did find this IBM document about Windows 8.x: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21615390

It states that Notes Single User Logon does not work with a Microsoft Account and recommends a shared login be used. I'm not sure what is meant by that.
