Changing name of mail/archive mail file

Hi,

Have a wee problem:

1) we started to use archive files to solve bloat problems in mail files (on a Domino 7 server)

2) switching back to a Dom 9 server, the company has decided they want all archived items put back into the main mail files since DAOS can be used and therefore much smaller mail files

3) we were using Copy and Paste from the all documents views of the archive and main mail file to move the docs back but on testing, if item was in a folder, it did not make it back to that folder

4) so I had the brilliant idea of "reversing" the archive process by setting a rule to move all archived items *back* to the main mail file if not modified in 1 day

5) this worked but then the mail file had a "recently archived" view and it had the title "archive"

6) I found a script to turn off the archive property within the mail file (subset of script at bottom)

- this worked in that the "recently archived" view has disappeared from the mail file but the title when in my client still contains archive

- I also just tried changing the property of the mail file from the properties dialog but that did not help

Here is a subset of the script I found showing the property.  I wonder if there is a 2nd property (or newer one) that controls how the title is displayed?  Or if this title is somehow cached in my client since this is my mail file?

(other stuff before this)

Set doc=db.GetProfileDocument("archive database profile")
doc.ArchiveDatabase = "0"

Thanks,

Albert

Changing name of mail/archive mail file

Another suggestion if further assistance is needed, would be to open a PMR with IBM.  We have a tool that can provide the following:

Copynsf is a Notes utility program which can be useful to troubleshoot a variety of Notes database issues such as :

Copy a database
Recover data from from database which Notes Client can't open
Recover data from a corrupted database
Merge content of two databases
Extract specific class(s) of documents from a database
Create a replica of a database
Copy and compress the file to a smaller size

Hope this help!

Success in moving emails back from archive file

Hi all,

Just for the next person - I successfully used the script noted in one of the replies to move back mail file items from the archive to the "main" file.  This worked the best of all the things I tried.  The only thing I did was to go through the script and make some of the dialog prompts a bit more specific - since I had a lot of mail archives to work through, I did not want to make any mistakes.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Albert

Archive Mailbox Reverter for IBM Lotus Notes

Glad the script worked, but just wanted to add to thread just in case anyone needs to revert archives for multiple users who might even have multiple local and server archives...

If you need to move back 1000's of messages for single or multiple users you might want to try the tool below.  I actually used it myself during a SmartCloud Notes Hybrid message migration to retract all local and server archives back to user server mailboxes.  It worked quite nicely and even supports archives located on external USB drives.
