Hi guys,

Hoping someone can point me int he right direction here.

We have a Mail server that runs DAOS and Translogging all set up.

I want to set up Archiving to server via policies, as some of our mailboxes are getting huuuuge   :)

Do I need to set up DAOS and Translogging on the Archiving server too?

I'm assuming when it archives to the archive server it will just create another *.nsf file and I can run DAOS on that database?

Thanks

Yes you do. DAOS requires enabling on a server before you can apply it to a database.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the reply.

Just to get it right, so it is recommended that I set up DAOS on the "Archive" server too.

Re: Mailbox Archiving to Server

If you want to DAOS the archive NSF's (which will probably end up being bigger then the original mail file) then yes.

You don't HAVE to DAOS the archives though just because the mail file is DAOS'd.

I've seen the below scenarios and all have worked fine:

Mailfile DAOS + Archives Not DAOS

Mailfile DAOS + Archives DAOS

Mailfile Not DAOS + Archives DAOS

I don't believe there is a "Recommended" way, it'll just depend on your environment and storage.

Re: Mailbox Archiving to Server

Hi Steven,

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I'll go ahead and set up a server almost exactly the same as current mail server with DAOS enabled and go from there with setting up Archiving.

Once again, thank you.
