Archiving to a Non-Domino server

We have 7 Domino servers scattered around North America.

All servers replicate common databases back to the hub server in Toronto.  And all mail files also replicate back for backup purposes.

Archiving is an issue as we don't like the IBM solution of archiving to the user's local machine as there's no backup (as we all know).

I'm going to look into Cooperteam's Archive Mail product, but I've been asked if we can move the users' mail archives to our Storage Server (which is not the same as our SAN) which is in Toronto.

This is a non-Domino server, so I didn't know if this was possible.  And then there is the issue of a) archiving to it  and b) if it is accessible through iNotes.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks

Have you looked at the out of the box server-side archiving?

Many organizations use server-based archiving that is available as part of IBM Domino.

With regard to moving archives to storage that either has slower disk access times or is accessed over the WAN, this is possible, but I suggest testing it first.  It is fairly common for archives to be on a lower tier of storage but accessing archives over a WAN could be challenging.
