Helv font displays cyrillic characters as empty squares

Hi. I have a very old notes database that uses Helv font as default in forms and views. After upgrading client to version 9.0.1 (standard client on Windows 7) all cyrillic text in Helv looks like empty squares. There was no such problem with 8.5.x client.

I try to use some old tricks (modify FontSubstitutes in Windows registry, add Unicode_Display=1 in notes.ini), but with no luck.

Replacing "Helv" with "Default Sans Serif" everywhere in design does solve the problem. However I think this is a compatibility issue yet.

Thanks for any clues.

Hi Greg,

Can you please provide the sample DB where the issue is seen?

Bad Font when viewed in Notes 9

I am seeing same thing in my databases when viewed in Notes 9 by some users - not all.   I used Helvetica font in all views as was required by GNA

Example that can be looked at is on server D01DB034

Unreadable font

Did anybody ever find a fix for this?  I opened a PMR in April 2014 and went through a ton of "test this, try that, remove, re-install, etc.".  They never gave me any hope this would ever be resolved.  Now, almost a year later, I still have a few workstations on version 8.5.3 so they can read the documents they require to perform their job.  Ridiculous that this bug was introduced in 9.x and they can't find a fix?  I really need this resolved so I can move on with other projects.
