We want to send Holiday greeting file (.mp4) in an email to both inside and outside users. We want .mp4 file to play DIRECTLY in the email when a user opens the email. Is this possible and if yes please let me know who you did it.

Within Notes yes
Very inefficient to send out the MP4 vs embedding a player that points somewhere else.  To do it in Notes you'd want to embed an object (Windows Media Player) and store form with document.

Alternatively you could obviously have a click here button/link that launches a web page that plays the video

I agree,  we are going to go with hosting the video outside and send the email with a link to the video. thanks for the response.

Auto-launching of an embedded video in an email

I can see why a company would want to make a video auto-launch since out of all those who receive the link, a sizeable number will elect not to click on it. One issue would be where the message is viewed. For example, will some customers open the message on a phone or tablet? If so, what would be the universal player found on every phone and tablet?  Also, some desktop email clients don't auto-launch HTML5 or a video in GIF format.
