How to create an LSX file?

It seems if I could create an LSX file (LotusScript Extension) and throw it somewhere on the server then any agent in a database on that server could say "UseLSX" and access any functions/subroutines it contains. I'm assuming you have to use the LSX wizard/toolkit. Any guidance is appreciated.

Off the top of my head...
...developing an LSX was quite straightforward using the LSX toolkit & wizard. And the documentation that comes with the toolkit used to be good, too. However, I haven't done any LSX development for years, so things may have changed.

Caveats I remember:
  • Platform dependency
  • Deployment is not so straightforward, since the .dll file (or .so file for that matter) needs to be placed in the Notes/Domino executable directory of target machines
  • If you develop for the Windows platform: Visual Studio 2005 was the last version of VS that could be used out of the box
  • No support from IBM, poor support from the community (since LSX development is done by a few specialists only)

Just took a quick look at the
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/toolkits.html download site. It seems that the link to the latest LSX toolkit version (8.0 that is) is broken -- whatever that means.

If I had to make a decision today, I'd probably look out for alternatives before starting a project based on LSX technology. LS2J might be a good candidate -- depending on what you are intending to do of course.
