cursor focus problems

I am running into a problem where every time an email comes in, the window I'm developing in loses cursor focus, and I lose part of what I typed, or, worse, the copy-paste operation I ended up performing mid-focus-switch occurs elsewhere than intended. I am on Notes Designer 9.0.1 FP2.  Is anyone else running into this problem?

Mail preferences

Check your mail preferences and see if you are set to automatically notify you when new mail is received.  Turn that off and see if it helps.
